the LABYRINTH
The classical
7-walled labyrinth came into being about 4500 years ago.
It appeared simultaniously in places as diverse as
Cornwall, Crete, Arizona and Sumatra. It is as if this
pattern broke through into human conciousness everywhere
and in "learning" or walking it, one is simply
being reminded.
The 11-walled labyrinth is a medieval creation and found
more commonly in churches. The path of any labyrinth is
"unicursal" - one way in and the same way out;
but it is the path of the pilgrim or the journeyer. In
walking this pattern, one becomes the path. It is a
prayer and a meditation device, a mandala, a system of
problem solving and a map of the travels of the planet
Mercury.
Wear it in
joy.
Solvitur ambulando.
